Embarking on a Captivating Journey: Welcome to my photography journey to the beautiful South-Africa

Hello my name is:

My name is Lisanne Patijn, a Photographer, a Production Coordinator and a Story Producer. Driven by a passion to help share & capture amazing and unique moments, rendered in beautiful images. The first pictures I took were taken with disposable cameras I took with me on field trips or family vacations. When I was old enough I was allowed to use my parent's camera and with the arrival of digital photography, it got easier for me to practice this newfound hobby, which quickly turned into a passion. Now I regularly take pictures for the video productions I work for, my local field hockey club, friends and family both as a hobby and professionally.

This post is just the beginning of my wildlife photography journey

This blog-series will be about how in South Africa, amidst breathtaking landscapes and majestic wildlife, I embark on an unforgettable expedition. Join me as I write about my transformative experience during a Wildlife & Travel Photojournalism Program, where I will delve into the captivating world of wildlife photography and storytelling. I'm joining the program of Africa Media a premier supplier of production services, experiential media training programs and interactive edu-tourism expeditions throughout Southern Africa.

Improving my photography skills

Most of my photography skills and knowledge is self taught and lot's of practicing. Yet I did start to notice I wanted to go more in depth and to get professional feedback on my images. so I can make that jump form hobby photographer to professional photographer. To further improve my skills as a photographer I wanted to take some formal classes and so I began my search for the right program. Quickly I realised I wanted more than following some general photography course and really choose something that is completely different and stands out. Thinking of my other interests one quickly came to mind that would be a perfect fit. Starting September 1st I'll follow the Wildlife & Travel Photojournalism Program of Africa Media in South-Africa for a month, so I can combine my love for animals & nature with my photography passion. Capturing breathtaking moments of wildlife in their natural habitat is a dream of mine I've had for a long time as I hope to be an aspiring wildlife photographer one day.

The power of photographs to drive positive change

South Africa, with its diverse animal species and stunning landscapes, offers the perfect backdrop for honing my photography skills. I hope that this Program of Africa Media provides an extraordinary opportunity to combine my passion for photography with an immersive travel experience I will never forget. One of my most important goals is to use photojournalism and the power of imagery to drive positive change.

Nervous & exited

I am nervous, exited and can't wait to embark on this journey to improve my photography skills and learn more about wildlife. I can't wait to experience the encounters with wildlife, the immersion in diverse landscapes, and the lessons in photography and storytelling. This has been a long awaited journey that was supposed to happen in 2020, due to corona and other things I had to wait, but I'm sure the wait is worth it!

Follow and join me on my adventure

Please join me on this amazing expedition I will go on as I will share my experiences, pictures and videos! Follow my blog & Instagram for further updates on my travels and my journey to capture the untamed wild in my lens.
